Positive Incentive Program (PIP)

What is the purpose of the PIP?

PIP is designated to recognize and reward students who:

  • demonstrate good behavior.

  • regularly attend school and class on time.

  • show consistent effort academically.

  • consistently do their homework.

What are the incentives?

Instant PIP Reward Tickets

PIP tickets may be distributed by the staff to any students who:

  • is caught doing a good deed.

  • regularly displays good manners.

  • promotes healthy and positive school atmosphere.

  • performs above and beyond the norm to make EHMIS a great place to be.

Note:  Instant PIP tickets may be redeemed any day for an ice cream during the lunch times in the cafeteria.

1st Semester PIP Activities

Semester incentives are designated to encourage all students to do their best by rewarding them with a semester grade level activity. Students who obtain at least 75% of their possible points during the first semester (awarded quarterly on the PIP rubric) will be eligible to participate in the 1st semester grade level activity. These activities will be determined by the grade-level teachers upon approval of the administration and may include such activities as: pool parties, dances, theme parties, and field trips.

2nd Semester PIP Activities

This PIP activity will be eligible to any student who has accumulated 85% of possible points in the second semester awarded quarterly on the PIP rubric).

Year end activities are as followings (could change at administrations discretion):

  • 6th grade: Afternoon picnic on school grounds.

  • 7th grade: Swimming party at nearby Codorus State Park.

  • 8th grade: Day at Hersheypark.

What are the rules of PIP?

All students will participate in the PIP Program and students who enroll in school after the beginning of each quarter will have their points prorated for eligibility to participate in the program.

The total amount of PIP points eligible per quarter may vary depending on total number of courses for that quarter. This is why a percentage will be used for eligibility.  See the current rubric, which has is available through the link below, for specific details.

PIP points will be calculated in the school’s Sapphire grading system and will appear as a percentage on quarterly report cards.

Signed permission slips will be required of all qualifying students who wish to attend semester and year end PIP reward activities. Those who do not return the permission form will not be permitted to participate in the event.

Appropriate behavior is expected of all students in attendance at a PIP activity with school rules being in effect at these events. In addition, students who violate school riles will likely forfeit their opportunity to attend the next PIP activity.
