The South Western Academy (SWA) program was approved by the South Western School Board in May of 2013 for grades k to 12 for South Western School District residents who need or prefer an online learning program. All South Western Academy students are also official South Western School District (SWSD) students.
On May 27, 2020, The South Western School district approved South Western Academy to become part of the LIU online program called Lincoln Edge.
