2026 Spring Paint Day - SWHS/NAHS - April 11, 2026 -- 9:00-11:00 AM
Monday, February 9, 2026 - 7:25 AM --- Good Morning HS Families and Staff: Within the past 25 minutes, we learned the High School heating system has malfunctioned, resulting in the building temperature falling below acceptable standards for our staff and students. As a result of this, all High School students and staff will be operating on a remote learning schedule. Students will be receiving a schedule for the day from their teachers at approximately 9:00 AM. --- Please note, all other buildings will be operating on a normal in-person day today. We apologize for the lateness of this notice, and are grateful for your patience and understanding.

Due to the low temperatures forecast for tomorrow morning, the South Western School District will be operating on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 28th. All offices will be opening at their normal time. The delay is an attempt to allow the sun to rise and provide some daylight and potential warming for students as they wait outside for their buses. We encourage our students to wear a waterproof, insulated jacket, a hat to cover their ears, mittens or gloves, scarves, and insulated footwear. Our transportation department will do all we can to ensure the buses are on time to limit the amount of time a student may have to wait for their bus to arrive. Again, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you.
Due to the lingering impact of this weekend’s snowstorm, the South Western School District will be closed tomorrow, January 27th. There will be no expectations of students or teachers to participate in virtual instruction. The make-up day for tomorrow’s closure will be Monday, February 16th. Additionally, district offices will be opening tomorrow at 9:00 AM.
A decision regarding the status of after-school and evening activities for Tuesday, January 27th, will be communicated to our families by 1:00 PM tomorrow.

As a result of the ongoing snowstorm, the South Western School District will be operating on a remote learning day tomorrow, January 26th. Students should follow the schedule that was sent home by their teachers on Friday. Additionally, all campus buildings and offices will be closed tomorrow. This includes canceling all after-school and evening activities. District administrators and office staff will be working remotely and will be available to support teachers and families via email and phone calls.
Should the current weather conditions persist and create a disruption to district operations on Tuesday, January 27th, we will notify our families and staff as soon as possible on Monday, January 26th.

Due to the potential for hazardous road conditions overnight caused by extremely low temperatures, the South Western School District will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, December 16, 2025.
Should road conditions fail to improve, resulting in additional adjustments to the day’s schedule, we will communicate those updates as early as possible tomorrow morning.

The SWHS National Art Honor Society is at it again...
Join SWHS NAHS for their Winter Pottery Day! The event will take place on Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm in the high school art classrooms. Use the QR code on the flyer to pay for your registration and reserve your spot! Registration is open now at the price of $25 and closes on December 5th at 2 p.m. Pottery pieces are selected based on first-come, first-served when you arrive! Your registration grants you one piece to decorate. NAHS is looking forward to seeing you there!
Looking for something to do indoors in the evening darkness and brisk weather. Join us for Community Swim every Monday and Wednesday at the middle school. Hours are 7:00 - 8:30pm. $2/person and $5/family. See attached flyer for more info.
Curtains! by Craig Sodaro will be presented by the high school drama department on November 20-22, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the Emory H. Markle Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now.
The SW National Art Honor Society student members are hosting a Fall Paint Day on Saturday, October 18, at SWHS. For only $25 our instructors will guide you to create your own unique painting! You will receive one 16x20 canvas & an apron for every painter. Sign up by Thursday, October 16, 2025.
The Girls' Volleyball Team has broken South Western's history with last night's win against Spring Grove. The team is the Division I League Champions for the first time ever. The team shared this title back in 2020, 1991 and 1990. The girls have one more match Monday at Susquehannock and then head to Counties on Wednesday for a 7 PM match at Central York. Congratulations to the team and their coaches.
2025-2026 South Western School District - Community Swim begins September 29, 2025 and will run through May 20, 2026 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. (only on days when school is in session) -
